Could a negative team come back and say that the death of a person would depress people so that the DA doesn't really snowball? Like this:
Hypothetically, let's say the negative is right. We improve the economy, which strengthens immune systems, which makes the Swine Flu more deadly. That results in my cousin Ernie dying. My entire family is depressed. Our immune systems get worse...we don't die from swine flu.
Sure, that's an answer. But if you were carrying cards talking about how fast pandemic spread is, and how quickly a cytokine storm can kill -- we're talking twelve hours from perfect health to dead as a mackerel -- then you might win that the flu is likely to do its damage to entire households before the immune-depressing effect of grief can set in. Sort of the way the people in the back half of a jumbo-jet that crashes don't have time to mourn for the people who die in the front half, because they die too quickly themselves.
Here at Northwest Christian University, we debate and speak to lift up the glorious name of God. We compete our hearts out, but we also involve ourselves in other groups and activities, because there are too many opportunities to serve and grow for any of us to put everything into one pursuit.
